What is the medicine used for:
FORDIA® MR is indicated as treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, particularly in overweight patients, when dietary management and exercise alone does not result in adequate glycaemic control. FORDIA® MR may be used as monotherapy or in combination with other oral antidiabetic agents, or with insulin.
What is in the medicine:
Each modified release film-coated tablet contains:
Metformin Hydrochloride 500 mg or 750 mg
How much and how often should you use this medicine:
The usual starting dose in patients who are not taking metformin is 500 mg, once daily, oral administration. If patients are not suffered from gastrointestinal side affects and need to increase dosage that should be made in increment of 500 mg every 1-2 weeks treatment. Dosage of metformin must be individualized on the basis of both effectiveness and tolerability, while not exceeding the maximum recommended daily dose of 2,000 mg.
